The whole reason that cat even bothered to save the owl was because it was hungry. The love heart symbolises the large temptation the cat has to gut and eat it. That owl should fucking run.

The cat could've eaten the owl before the owl even got kidnapped by the evil Wizzord. Why go through all that effort to kill the owl!? WHY!? THE OWL IS MY FRIEND!!!

The developers are clearly trolling you. Cats love eating dem birds. Happens all the time. If there was a cutscene after the game if would be of the cat devouring the owl.

OOOOOORRRRR The developers have a nefarious plot where the cat is legitimately is rescuing the owl but the owl is a tricky SOB and the owl is plotting on having the cat for its dinner. So the next game is where the cat gets kidnapped and the owl has to save the cat only instead of them living happily ever after, the owl turns and slowly eats the cat's guts. While the cat is still alive.

...I find it odd that you're a cat lover, yet you're saying the cat is going to get eaten and I'm a bird lover, yet I'm saying the owl is going to get eaten.
